Hi, my name is Davide, and I am the project leader of Pal Robotics, a company which is working in humanoid robotics since 2004. My dream has always been to build robots and that is what I do.
In the past years I have been looking for people who want to join me in this dream of mine and I must say have been lucky so far, because my team is getting bigger and bigger and we are a group of enthusiastic people sharing the same goal. Our “robotic family” is growing as well (hopefully you know our most famous robot, REEM-B).
This blog is a bit about us, the people working at Pal Robotics, and a little about myself, Davide.
You might have noticed that the blog has 3 main sections. They are very different from each other and you, the reader, might be interested in all of them or just in 1 or 2. These are the sections:
“WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE LAB” is going to be a multi-author blog where we will describe… well, I guess i can call it our daily life. We want to share with you what we do and sometimes what we feel. I guess this is pretty common in blogging, isn’t it? We are a young team and we try to have fun, even if, I must confess, sometimes we are struggling to get things done… i guess it is what you would expect from any challenging research project.
Talking about challenges, the section “CONTEST” is an experiment of mine. Even though I believe that we are doing quite well developing the robots that will join humans in the future, I know there are brilliant minds “out there”, outside our small lab, that can help us with ideas and can contribute to our mission. For this reason, I will launch very often an online contest where everyone can participate, contributing in this way to the progress of robotics. Of course, the best idea will receive more than just our eternal gratitude: we will always have a price for the contest winner!
The last part, “HOW EVERYTHING STARTED” (I really wonder if someone will be interested to it) is my personal story, a retrospective diary of the events which led me here and made it possible for me to realize my dream when I was just 25: creating those robots which were believed to exist only in science fiction literature and movies.
This is it. there is no more to add in this home page. You are welcome, make yourself at home in our lab and virtually join us in our adventure if you so desire.
